Islamabad, Sep 29: Iran Calls for UNSC Meeting After Nasrallah Death

Iran has urgently requested a meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli air strike in Beirut.

This request was conveyed in a letter by Iran’s UN envoy, Amir Saeid Iravani, who emphasized the need for the Council to take “immediate and decisive action” to halt Israel’s ongoing aggression and prevent escalation into a broader regional conflict.

In a statement, Hezbollah confirmed the death of Nasrallah, declaring that he had “joined his great, immortal martyr comrades” after leading the resistance group for nearly 30 years.

Iran Calls for UNSC Meeting After Nasrallah Death several other significant figures, including senior Hezbollah leader Ali Karki and his daughter Zainab, were also reported among those killed in the Israeli strike.

Israeli military sources indicated that the air strike targeted Hezbollah’s headquarters located in Beirut’s southern suburbs, which was described as being situated beneath residential buildings.

This military action has sparked outrage and concerns over the potential for escalating violence in the region.
