Islamabad, Oct 29; The paper was reporting that Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, now 85 years old, is said to be in a very critical health condition, and the above paper was reporting Saturday that it expected Khamenei’s replacement to be.
Though his second oldest son, Mojtaba Khamenei is expected to succeed him the NYT report claimed that Khamenei’s deteriorating health has led to a “quiet battle” over his succession. It also declares that IRGC will play some part in selection of a successor of the next Ayatollah.
Apprehensions about Khamenei’s successor have emerged again after the death of a former Iranian president, Raisi in helicopters crash in May this year.
Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been in power since 1989 succeeding the first Supreme Leader, Ruhollah Khomeini. The Iranian leaders continue insisting they have no intention of upping the conflict with Israel.
A note on the account, which appeared under the handle @Khamenei_Heb, cited the suspension for “violating X’s rules” shortly after it posted a statement warning Israel over its recent military actions.
The post read, “The Zionist regime made a mistake. it will soon understand the strength and resolve of the Iranian nation.”
X’s community guidelines prohibit content from “violent and hateful entities,” but often make exceptions for posts from “state or governmental entities.”
However, with this exception, the platform continued with the suspension, and consequently there was no immediate backlash from members of Khamenei’s office or anyone from X.
Such suspension comes at the time of escalating tensions following recent nuclear raids by Israel against Iranian interests in response to a provocation in the form of a ballistic missile launching in early October.
