Islamabad, May 4, 2025: The Islamabad Police have intensified their efforts to tackle the rising issue of beggary across the city with a series of arrests.
On a recent operation, 10 to 12 beggars were apprehended as part of an ongoing crackdown by the police in the federal capital, Islamabad.
Authorities confirmed that this operation would continue for the coming days, despite repeated actions by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.
Beggars continue to be a prominent presence on the streets, markets, and traffic intersections of Islamabad.

Commercial zones in the city have witnessed a surge in beggars, including women and children, asking for alms from commuters and shoppers.
Many locals have raised concerns that some of these beggars appear to be part of organized networks that manage their movements.
Residents have observed that professional beggars are often dropped at specific locations early in the day, only to be collected again in the evening.
This organized system has led to frustrations among citizens, who also claim that these beggars are often linked to petty crimes, such as snatching.

Local businesses and residents are troubled by beggars’ aggressive tactics, including verbal abuse and vehicle damage when denied.
Police official acknowledged the issue, noting that while regular operations target professional beggars, a multi-pronged approach is needed to address the problem.
Police focus on rehabilitating beggars with shelter, food, and vocational training, but officials stress that dismantling the entrenched networks requires a coordinated effort.
