Islamabad, Apr 30, 2025: Islamabad has garnered international acclaim as one of the safest cities globally, ranking 93rd out of 380 cities in the Numbeo 2025 Safety Index.

This achievement highlights the city’s significant strides in public safety and its overall quality of life, placing it ahead of numerous renowned global cities.

Boasting a safety score of 67.9, Islamabad outperforms several major cities, including London (270th, 45.8), Paris (303rd, 41.9), and Berlin (187th, 55.3).

It also ranks higher than regional cities like Lahore (130th, 63.1) and Moscow (118th, 64.6), as well as popular destinations such as Sydney, Toronto, and Barcelona.

This recognition follows endorsements like the United Nations designating Islamabad as a “family station,” reinforcing its reputation as a safe place for residents and professionals alike.

The Islamabad Police report a 20% reduction in overall crime in 2025 compared to the previous year, marking a significant improvement driven by strategic law enforcement and a strong commitment from police personnel.

A key factor in this success has been a focused crackdown on criminal activities, particularly drug trafficking and illegal trade.

The police launched widespread operations targeting narcotics distribution and illicit liquor sales, yielding positive results. Key crime statistics for 2025 include:

  • A 19% reduction in street robberies
  • A 12% decline in thefts
  • A dramatic 74% drop in burglaries
  • A 22% decrease in vehicle and motorcycle thefts
  • A 17% decrease in reported murders

Overall, 600 fewer crimes were reported in Islamabad, showcasing a substantial improvement in public safety.

Beyond strict law enforcement, the Islamabad Police have actively engaged in community-based initiatives aimed at preventing crime.

Their “Nasha Ab Nahe” (Drugs No More) campaign involved senior officers visiting schools and colleges to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.

This initiative was supported by tactical operations that led to arrests and the confiscation of illegal substances.
