ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 3: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) will now be administered by the Ministry of Interior rather than the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, according to approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The 1973 Rules of Business, Rule 3(3), guided this conclusion. The Ministry of Interior has taken over all of the assets and equipment of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board. Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, has ordered that the transfer be completed in a month.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the IWMB became embroiled in a dispute earlier this year when the municipal body locked up the “Visitors’ Information Center” next to Trail-V.

The Margalla Hills Visitors’ Information Centers, overseen by the IWMB since 2015, provided direction to guests and encouraged the preservation of the local fauna. Subsequently, the Wildlife Management Board was given back control of the CDA’s information centers located on Trails 5 and 6, as well as the wildlife sanctuary situated in the foothills of Margalla Hills, by the Supreme Court.

The IWMB was not given any warning or an opportunity to be heard prior to being forced to leave, the court said. Consequently, the CDA was directed to give the IWMB back the property, together with all of its furnishings and equipment.
