Islamabad, Jan 12: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan underscored the private sector’s pivotal role in driving trade and investment between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Addressing a luncheon hosted by the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Dubai at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) on Saturday, the minister highlighted avenues for collaboration to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

The event brought together over 100 attendees, including prominent Pakistani business leaders, PBC members, and officials from the Pakistan Consulate Dubai. Discussions centered on fostering investment opportunities, boosting exports, and fortifying trade relations between the two nations.

Commending the newly elected PBC board, the minister expressed optimism about its plans to work closely with the Commercial Wing of the Pakistan Consulate. He lauded the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, founded on mutual trust and shared economic aspirations. “The Pakistani diaspora in the UAE has been a cornerstone of our economic relationship,” Khan remarked, urging private sector leaders to actively explore new trade and investment possibilities.

The minister also outlined government initiatives aimed at promoting trade and export growth. These include the establishment of sectoral councils for exports, industrial reforms, and restructuring bodies like the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). He emphasized the importance of showcasing “Brand Pakistan” globally while enhancing compliance with international standards, particularly in agriculture, to drive export-led growth.

To improve efficiency, Trade & Investment Officers (TIOs) are now being monitored through an online system, ensuring better accountability and support for businesses. The event concluded with a networking session, where attendees shared strategies to expand economic cooperation. Both public and private sectors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties and exploring untapped opportunities in trade and investment.

The gathering highlighted the shared vision of Pakistan and the UAE to build a robust economic future, driven by collaboration and innovation.
