Islamabad, Feb 13: Pakistan’s largest fintech services provider, JazzCash, and its leading digital microfinance bank, Mobilink Bank, have been nominated for prestigious accolades at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards 2025, to be held during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025. This recognition highlights the innovative strides both companies have made in the digital financial services space.

JazzCash has secured a nomination in the ‘Best Fintech Innovation’ category for its Tap Pay for Business offering, an advanced solution that enables over 360,000 merchants to accept payments via contactless cards or smartphones. Using NFC technology, this feature, developed in collaboration with Mastercard, allows seamless digital payments through JazzCash wallets. This global-first initiative exemplifies JazzCash’s commitment to fostering a cashless and documented economy in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Mobilink Bank’s ‘Invisible Heirs’ campaign has made it to the shortlist in the ‘CMO Marketing Campaign’ category. This campaign addresses a crucial issue: women’s struggle to claim their inheritance rights. By introducing Pakistan’s first-ever inheritance calculator in its app, Mobilink Bank empowers women to take charge of their financial futures, raising awareness and sparking change around the issue of inheritance in the country.

Murtaza Ali, President of JazzCash, emphasized the importance of the Tap Pay innovation, stating that the nomination reflects JazzCash’s drive to make financial services more accessible and create an inclusive digital ecosystem. He further stressed that this feature was an important step in promoting a cashless society.

Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, expressed pride in the recognition of the ‘Invisible Heirs’ campaign. He highlighted that the initiative not only raised awareness but also challenged societal norms, advocating for women’s financial independence. He believes the global recognition will further amplify the movement for gender equity in finance.

Both companies have previously received global acclaim for their innovative contributions. Mobilink Bank’s ‘Invisible Heirs’ campaign won the “Digital Nations Video Creativity Award” at GSMA’s M360 Asia-Pacific in 2024, while JazzCash was recognized at Edge 2024 in Dubai for its pioneering work in contactless payment solutions. JazzCash and Mobilink Bank are part of the VEON group, a global digital operator that serves nearly 160 million customers across six markets, making significant strides in promoting digital financial inclusion.
