Islamabad, Nov 29: As part of the Karachi Safe City Project, two Emergency Response Vehicles equipped with advanced camera systems have begun trial runs.

These vehicles are fitted with seven high-resolution 12-megapixel cameras, six of which focus on capturing the number plates of suspicious vehicles and recognizing faces, while the seventh camera, mounted on the vehicle’s roof, offers 360-degree rotation for comprehensive coverage.

Currently stationed in Defence, a high-security area of Karachi, these vehicles are manned by a commander and three officers.

The commander is equipped with a tablet linked to the vehicle’s cameras, enabling real-time data transmission to the central command and control center.

The vehicles are also equipped with night vision technology, ensuring efficient operation even in low-light conditions.

Key Features:

  • High-tech cameras for recognizing suspicious vehicle number plates and faces, with night vision for low-light environments.
  • Real-time data transmission to police stations via tablets connected to the vehicle’s camera systems.
  • Wireless communication systems, ensuring uninterrupted communication with police stations even in areas with poor internet connectivity.

The project is expected to deploy 23 such camera-equipped vehicles across various city areas, including key highways, to enhance security. Additionally, the Safe City Project aims to install 1,300 advanced cameras throughout the city, with 100 cameras already operational and 300 more planned.

The vehicles will operate flexibly across the city, with no fixed parking spots, ensuring maximum coverage in all areas.

By working in coordination with NADRA and the Excise Department, the project aims to detect suspicious vehicles and questionable individuals promptly, alerting local police stations for quick responses.
