Islamabad, 24 March 2025: David Warner has been appointed captain of Karachi Kings for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Recognized as one of the most formidable T20 openers, Warner has led multiple teams in major leagues, including the Big Bash League (BBL).

The addition of right-handed opening batter is expected to bring significant experience and leadership to Karachi Kings.

Following the announcement, Warner responded to Karachi Kings’ post on social media, expressing his excitement about joining the team.

He was Karachi Kings’ first pick in the Platinum category during the PSL 10 Player Draft, held on January 13, 2025, at Hazoori Bagh in Lahore.

The Karachi Kings management acknowledged the contributions of last season’s captain, Shan Masood, appreciating his leadership in balancing young and experienced players.

His tactical approach and professionalism were highlighted as key factors in shaping the team.

Franchise owner Salman Iqbal extended a warm welcome to Warner, emphasizing that his leadership aligns well with the team’s vision.

He also commended Masood for his efforts in PSL 9, stating that his captaincy laid a strong foundation for the squad and that the team is pleased to have him remain part of the setup.

The highly anticipated HBL PSL 10 will commence on April 11, 2025, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.

Karachi Kings will start their campaign against Multan Sultans on April 12 at National Bank Stadium.
