Islamabad, Dec 7: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, has announced exciting developments for students in Karachi, according to ARY News. Dr. Siddiqui revealed that two new universities will be launched in Karachi this December.

The National Textile University campus will open on December 14, and the National Skills University campus will also be inaugurated within the same month.

Additionally, Dr. Siddiqui shared plans to establish a campus of a federal university in the Mirpurkhas district by March next year. This campus is expected to benefit students from the Sanghar, Umerkot, and Tharparkar districts.

However, he expressed concerns regarding challenges in acquiring land for these projects, noting that some plots have remained unused for over a decade. Discussions with federal authorities are ongoing to address these land acquisition issues.

Dr. Siddiqui also reiterated his commitment to establishing 20 universities across Sindh province. In a recent address at the convocation ceremony of the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad, he emphasized the importance of innovation and leadership. He encouraged the graduates by stating, “The nation has fulfilled its obligation by providing you with quality education; it is now your duty to contribute to its progress.

This country, founded on a distinct ideology, requires your efforts to build a brighter future.”

Dr. Siddiqui also highlighted NUTECH’s growing international recognition and its unique role as Pakistan’s first “University for Industry,” fostering a strong collaboration between academia and the industrial sector.
