Islamabad, Jan 21: The University of Karachi has issued updated rules on student attire, stressing the need for appropriate and respectful clothing on campus.

In a notice dated January 14, 2025, Dr. Nosheen Raza, the Students’ Adviser, outlined the dress code expectations. Students are required to wear neat and modest outfits suitable for an academic environment.

The notice bans clothing that could be seen as inappropriate or disruptive, including revealing or transparent garments, shorts, sleeveless or tightly fitted outfits, and attire with offensive language or images. Additionally, casual footwear like flip-flops is not allowed on university premises.

Dr. Raza explained to Geo.tv that such notifications are routine measures to maintain discipline. “Karachi University is one of Pakistan’s largest institutions, with over 45,000 students currently enrolled,” she said.

The updated guidelines were issued as the new academic year begins, with fresh intakes underway and more students expected through evening admissions. Dr. Raza emphasized that this reminder aims to familiarize new students with the university’s policies.
