Islamabad, Sep 9:  Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad will be fit for the Test matches against England in October, having escaped a potentially major physical setback.

Shahzad, 24, was hurt for the majority of the last day of the pivotal match in Rawalpindi, but he was still an important player in the current Test series against Bangladesh.

Shahzad’s crucial contribution to the series was underscored by Bangladesh’s six-wicket victory, which not only sealed a 2-0 series win but also saw him collect a six-for in this opening innings.

Khurram Shahzad, who had a career-best 6 for 90, had been crucial in destroying Bangladesh’s batting order in the opening innings.

He only managed 1 for 40 in seven overs against Bangladesh in the second innings, though, as a result of an injury.

Shahzad’s left side started to hurt and get stiff after the game, which led to further scans. Luckily, these examinations have not revealed any fractures, and the doctor’s suggestion recommends a short period of rest.

Shahzad’s prognosis for his participation in the forthcoming Test series against England, which is scheduled to start next month, is good news.

Shahzad’s recent history of injuries makes this news all the more welcome. He had been sidelined for several months following his debut in Perth last December due to a stress fracture of the ribs. With no previous first-class performances, his return to competitive cricket was restricted to the most recent Test matches against Bangladesh.

Shahzad has decided to miss the Champions One-Day Cup next week in order to ensure a full recovery. To evaluate his progress as he prepares for the first Test against England on October 7 in Multan, another MRI scan is scheduled.
