The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) provincial government declared a public holiday throughout the province on Thursday to mark the beginning of the Islamic year.
The announcement states that the first day of Muharram’s holiday is dependent on seeing the moon. It further stated that all businesses, government offices, and educational facilities will be closed.On July 6, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir, will convene to decide when Muharram al-Haram will begin.The moon will be observed by this committee, and the central committee will also receive assistance from zonal committee meetings that will take place at their respective offices.
