To enforce this, district administrations will play a key role in overseeing compliance and ensuring businesses transition to cashless operations seamlessly.
The cashless system is expected to enhance financial transparency, drive economic growth, and position Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a leader in digital governance.
By expanding digital banking services, the initiative aims to curb financial fraud, improve tax collection, and create a more business-friendly environment.
Additionally, a centralized business database will allow targeted financial support during emergencies and attract both local and foreign investments, boosting digital entrepreneurship in the region.
The Finance Department will spearhead the initiative with several crucial measures:
- Selecting mobile wallet service providers through formal agreements under KP’s procurement regulations.
- Developing an online registration portal to onboard businesses, making the digital transition more efficient.
- Implementing a province-wide compliance drive, requiring businesses including retail shops, kiosks, street vendors, and public transport services to display QR codes for cashless transactions.
With this initiative, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on track to Pioneer Cashless Economy transactions, setting an example for other provinces in Pakistan.
