Islamabad, Sep 24: In a significant move to enhance social protection for residents, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has decided to incorporate life insurance into the Sehat Card Plus program.

This decision was made during a recent meeting aimed at improving the healthcare initiative, which included key officials such as Health Advisor Ahtisham Ali and Finance Advisor Muzzamil Aslam, alongside representatives from the Health Department and the State Life Insurance Corporation.

Key Highlights from the Meeting

  1. Inclusion of Life Insurance: The Chief Minister announced the integration of life insurance into the Sehat Card Plus program, which aims to provide residents with broader financial security in healthcare.
  2. Resumption of Cardiac Surgeries: Gandapur addressed concerns over the suspension of cardiac surgeries at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) under the Sehat Card Plus scheme. He instructed officials to ensure that these surgeries resume promptly, with the government covering any additional costs involved.
  3. Emphasis on Program Integrity: The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Sehat Card Plus program, describing it as a flagship initiative of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He stressed the need for greater transparency and accountability within the program to build public trust.
  4. Expanding Healthcare Access: To improve access to quality healthcare, Gandapur announced plans to add reputable hospitals to the Sehat Card panel, ensuring that citizens, particularly in remote areas, can receive necessary medical services without financial burdens.
  5. Financial Commitment to State Life Insurance: Gandapur reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making timely payments to the State Life Insurance Corporation. This measure aims to prevent any disruptions in the free healthcare services provided to patients under the Sehat Card Plus program.
