The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated solar energy initiatives to tackle the problem of electricity shortage in the combined tribal areas. A few of these projects have already been effectively finished.
900 mosques and other houses of worship have switched to solar power, producing 1.73 MW of electricity per day and saving millions of rupees every month, according to a Business Recorder story.
In the Khyber area, the province administration intends to switch 3,050 mosques and 1,100 institutions to solar power this year. Moreover, solar mini grids would be connected to business hubs.
The Khyber district representative to the National Assembly, Haji Iqbal Afridi, promised to fulfill all of his obligations to the people living in the combined tribal territories. He said this at a conference overseen by PEDO, a KP branch of the Energy & Power Department, regarding the status of solar energy projects in Khyber.
The committee was briefed on three significant active solar energy projects by PD Engr Asfand Yar Khan. It entails constructing a mini grid in Bara Bazaar and outfitting 3,500 mosques and 1,100 schools with solar panels.
