Islamabad, Oct 8: KSRelief Unveils Major Public Facilitation Projects Valued at Rs 4 Billion for Pakistan on Tuesday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) unveiled a number of significant public facilitation initiatives valued at Rs. 4 billion, with the goal of restoring Pakistani communities devastated by natural calamities.

Assistant Supervisor General of Operations at Ksrelief, Engineer Ahmed Ali Al-Baiz, signed four separate joint cooperation programs with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

State Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (SERRA) during the “Signing Ceremony for Joint Cooperation Programmes and Implementation Contracts for Educational, Health, Recovery and Rehabilitation Projects in Pakistan.” More importantly, eight separate contracts for public facilitation projects were formalized.

Among the special guests at the signing ceremony were Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chairman of PRCS, a representative from the NDMA, and heads of various UN missions in Pakistan.

These programs demonstrate KSRelief’s dedication to long-term development and sustainable recovery for communities impacted by various natural disasters in Pakistan. These initiatives span a number of industries, including disaster preparedness, WASH, housing, education, and health. Building the National Humanitarian Response Facility for NDMA is one of the main initiatives; this would greatly improve the organization’s capacity to distribute and store relief goods during calamities.

The goal is to build 1,000 permanent homes for families that were uprooted by the floods in 2022, which will hopefully shelter 7,000 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Punjab. Every house is built with two rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom to provide the impacted families with a respectable place to live.

Furthermore, 300 Community Feeder Schools will be built throughout Pakistan by KSRelief, with a focus on underprivileged areas like Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. These schools, equipped with green energy solar electricity and clean drinking water facilities, will educate about 15,000 children, while indirectly helping over 100,000 people, including local communities and teachers.

These schools will be turned over to the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) after they are finished, guaranteeing management and sustainability over the long run. In addition, four government schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir that suffered damage from the 2005 earthquake would be rebuilt for SERRA by KSRelief. These educational institutions will support the long-term growth of the area while offering 3,400 students a secure learning environment.

In addition, the King of Saudi Arabia will rehabilitate 22 vital facilities such as health centers, schools, and water projects that were built in reaction to the 2010 floods and the 2005 earthquake in order to increase access to clean water, healthcare, and education.

Approximately 360,000 people will directly benefit from these projects, while 690,000 people will indirectly benefit. By means of these all-encompassing initiatives, KSRelief underscores Saudi Arabia’s continuous assistance to Pakistan, fostering recovery, resilience, and sustainable growth.
