Islamabad, Apr 23, 2025: The Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), a prominent name in global oil and gas ventures, has officially announced its interest in Pakistan’s upcoming offshore exploration bidding round.
A strategic discussion was held between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and KUFPEC’s Country Head and PPEPCA Chairman, Ali Taha Al-Temimi.
The key focus of this interaction was to reinforce the working relationship between Pakistan’s government and KUFPEC, while identifying areas for expanding exploration operations and solving challenges in the energy sector.
Minister Malik reaffirmed the government’s focus on attracting both international and domestic capital into the oil and gas industry.
He pointed out that continuous policy changes are being implemented to streamline regulations and increase transparency in the exploration and production (E&P) processes.
He further emphasized that Pakistan is proactively shaping a business-friendly ecosystem for investors involved in natural resource development.
Ali Taha Al-Temimi acknowledged the government’s proactive efforts and expressed KUFPEC’s enthusiasm for participating in the offshore bidding process.

Al-Temimi also shared insights into KUFPEC’s current undertakings in Pakistan, highlighting that the company has been active in the country since 1987 and has already funneled over $1.5 billion into Pakistan’s petroleum industry.
Welcoming KUFPEC’s renewed interest, Minister Malik noted that this bidding opportunity marks a crucial moment after years of stagnation in offshore licensing.
He stressed that the new offshore blocks being offered for exploration carry immense potential for both local firms and foreign stakeholders to enhance Pakistan’s energy security.
With global oil prices fluctuating and local demand rising, the renewed collaboration between Pakistan and KUFPEC may signal a transformative era for the country’s oil and gas exploration landscape.
