Islamabad, Sep 9: In the city, a brand-new online ride service designed just for women and transgender people has gone live. The program, called “SheDrives,” guarantees that both the drivers and the passengers are transsexual or women.

The Express Tribune was informed by SheDrives CEO Ammaz Farooqi that the service’s goals are to improve transportation and empower the transgender population. Farooqi emphasized the company’s continuous efforts to open Pakistan’s first gender guardian school, which will train and teach transgender people.

An expansion of these initiatives is SheDrives, which provides a helpful and safe mode of transportation. Women and transgender persons who are proficient drivers of cars, motorbikes, or rickshaws are invited to participate in the program as drivers. Safety is the first priority. If a rider or passenger feels threatened, the app’s “help” button instantly notifies the Safe Cities Authority, enabling tracking and fast aid.

Shaista Pervaiz Malik, a member of the National Assembly, supported the plan, pointing out that it might increase travel safety for transgender and women while also offering economic prospects. In order to support women in pursuing further education and jobs, Hina Pervaiz Butt, Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, emphasized the significance of trustworthy travel choices.
