Islamabad, Apr 4, 2025: In response to the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL X) matches being held in Lahore, the Punjab government has introduced temporary changes to school schedules, impacting both public and private institutions.

The revised timings, effective from April 3 to April 21, will see schools operating from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM to help manage the traffic situation and ensure the safety of students, as heavy security measures and road blockages are anticipated around the match venues.

This adjustment is aimed at reducing congestion and creating safer routes for students in the wake of the PSL event.

Furthermore, to address the rising temperatures in the province, the Punjab School Education Department (SED) has also updated the summer school timings for all public institutions, effective from April 7 through October 15.

The updated summer schedule as per the SED’s guidelines is as follows:

  • For single-shift schools: Classes will run from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, and until 11:30 AM on Fridays.

  • For double-shift schools, the timings are divided into:

    • Morning shift: 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM (Mon–Thu), 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM (Fri)

    • Evening shift: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Mon–Thu), 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM (Fri)

Additionally, school administrators are permitted a 15-minute flexibility in adjusting the opening and closing times for both boys’ and girls’ schools based on the local circumstances.

The SED has instructed all District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs to enforce the revised schedule without exception.

Schools that fail to comply with the new timings could face disciplinary measures, including legal action.
