Islamabad, April 5, 2025: Mohammad Sadam, who gained attention for his standout World Cup qualifier performance, is now sidelined by injury and lack of support.

Sadam, captain of the Pakistan Under-19 team, gained instant recognition after a spectacular goal-line save against Jordan.

The defensive skills of the teenage footballer earned praise from foreign coaches and sparked interest from international clubs.

However, during a routine training session, Sadam suffered a painful knee injury.

Doctors later diagnosed a hairline fracture and a blood clot near his knee, urging immediate surgery to prevent long-term damage.

The surgery costs Rs500,000 in Islamabad or Rs400,000 in Peshawar. Without support, Sadam sought help from the PFF NC for his pending payments and medical expenses.

So far, his plea has gone unanswered from the Pakistan Football Federation Normalization Committee.

His brother, former national team captain Haji Mohammad, is now leading efforts to raise the needed funds.

“He is a rare talent, and this injury came just as clubs were showing interest. If we don’t act fast, those opportunities will slip away,” Haji explained.

The absence of Sadam from the AFC Qualifier against Syria raised questions, which were confirmed by Haji at Islamabad Airport, citing the lack of timely support.

PFF NC member Shahid Khokhar, currently attending a football congress in Sri Lanka, acknowledged Sadam’s potential, describing him as an “asset.”

He stated that financial difficulties were delaying assistance, but assured that once FIFA releases funds, support for Sadam’s treatment would follow.

NC Chairman Saud Hashmi also reached out, promising help.

Sadam’s situation highlights a broader issue — the absence of structured support for injured athletes.

As the clock ticks on his recovery, urgent action is needed, not only to save his career, but to safeguard the future of Pakistan’s sporting talent.
