Islamabad, Apr 24, 2025: In a transformative move to overhaul Lahore’s transportation system, the Punjab government has greenlit detailed feasibility reports for three upcoming metro lines — the Yellow Line, Blue Line, and Purple Line.
These ambitious projects are a part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Vision T-30, a future-focused urban transport blueprint that aims to enhance connectivity, reduce congestion, and pave the way for an environmentally friendly public transit system.
The announcement was made during the 25th cabinet session of Punjab, presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The new metro routes are designed to align with the broader objectives of Transport Vision 2030, a long-term plan intended to revolutionize urban travel across the province.
This initiative prioritizes affordable public transport, improved access for all socioeconomic groups, fewer road accidents, and a significant push towards cleaner mobility alternatives.

The introduction of the yellow, blue, and purple lines will work in conjunction with Lahore’s existing Orange Line Metro, offering more comprehensive coverage of the city’s busiest corridors.
These new additions are expected to drastically cut down travel times for commuters, reduce pressure on overburdened roads, and improve the quality of daily commutes.
Authorities believe the project will not only address Lahore’s rising population and traffic challenges but also create employment opportunities and stimulate economic development around newly connected zones.
Furthermore, the expansion reinforces the government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and climate-conscious infrastructure.
By investing in such forward-thinking transit solutions, the Punjab government is setting a strong example for other provinces, ensuring that Lahore evolves into a smarter, greener metropolis.
With improved accessibility and modern transit systems, Vision T-30 is poised to change how citizens move through the city.
