Islamabad, Jan 6: To tackle the increasing traffic issues in Lahore, authorities have established six new traffic management sectors across the city. These sectors are designed to improve traffic flow and efficiency at key intersections and roadways.
The new sectors are situated in the Sadar Division and Cantt Division, with particular attention given to specific high-traffic areas. In the Sadar Division, traffic management near Jati Umra has been enhanced for smoother vehicle movement.
The Nawan Kot Traffic Sector covers busy areas like Darbar Shah Fareed, Sabzazar Chowk, Raheem Store, Gold Market, Yateem Khana, and Samanabad Chowk. This sector aims to alleviate congestion in these areas.
In the Shera Kot Traffic Sector, control measures have been implemented at major locations such as Babu Sabu Chowk, Chhota Babu Sabu Chowk, Liaquat Chowk, Niazi Adda, City Adda, and Abdullah Adda to reduce traffic bottlenecks.
The Niaz Baig Traffic Sector is focused on points like Motorway Naka, Thokar Chowk, Katar Bund Road, and Azmir Chowk, ensuring smoother traffic flow along the busy routes from Thokar Chowk to the Military Cut.
The Multan Road Traffic Sector oversees areas such as Military Depot Cut, Hanjrwal, Multan Chungi, Mandi Stop, Awan Town, Kharrak Nala Chowk, and Bijli Ghar Chowk to manage traffic flow in these high-traffic zones.
The New Airport Traffic Sector focuses on routes such as Chitral Lane Bahar Shah Road, Askari 10, Burki Road, Paragon City, and DHA Phases 6, 7, and 8 to enhance accessibility to and from the airport.
The Bedian Road Traffic Sector manages traffic in areas like Bhatha Chowk, PAF Golf Club, Gohawa, Bedian Road, Elite Center, DHA Phase 6, and Raya Club, improving access to residential and commercial hubs.
Additionally, the Bhobatian Traffic Sector oversees traffic at locations like Bhobatian Kachhi Kothi Cut, Bhobatian Chowk, and Raiwind Road, including key intersections such as Qazzalbash Chowk, Khayaban Chowk, Dubai Chowk, and Bhobatian Chowk. Other important points under the new system include the Mosque U-Turn on Motorway Abdul Sattar Edhi Road, OPF U-Turn, LDA Society, Jubilee Town Society, and various other crucial intersections.
