Islamabad, Feb 21: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) set a new financial benchmark by generating an astounding Rs3.55 billion in a single-day public auction held at the Lahore Expo Centre. A total of 42 properties, including residential, commercial, and educational sites, as well as plots designated for markets, dispensaries, apartments, restaurants, canteens, and salons, were successfully auctioned.

The most remarkable sale of the event was a prime commercial plot located on Jail Road, Gulberg V, which fetched a staggering Rs1.88 billion. Additionally, an apartment site in Johar Town B-1 was auctioned for Rs436.6 million, while a commercial plot in Jubilee Town secured Rs162 million. Other significant transactions included:

  • An education site in OPF Scheme’s A Block: Rs179.6 million
  • A commercial plot in Civic Centre, Johar Town: Rs87.6 million
  • Lease rights for an educational facility in Mustafa Town: Rs20.8 million
  • A restaurant site at LDA Sports Complex, Canal West: Rs12.1 million
  • A rooftop restaurant in Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town: Rs7.7 million

Several school canteens, marquees, and sports-related sites across Lahore also attracted substantial bids. Commercial plots in Johar Town, Jubilee Town, Mustafa Town, Tajpura, and Sabzazar saw offers ranging from Rs5 million to over Rs37 million, demonstrating strong investor interest.

The auction was conducted under the supervision of senior LDA officials, including the Director General, additional DGs for Housing and Urban Planning, as well as directors overseeing Revenue, Finance, Auction, and Education.

An LDA spokesperson highlighted that this auction surpassed the previous revenue of Rs2 billion, making it a record-breaking financial achievement for the authority. This success underscores the growing demand for premium real estate in Lahore and LDA’s commitment to efficient urban planning and revenue generation.
