Islamabad, Jan 17: LMKR is spearheading the modernization of Karachi’s Urban Immovable Property Tax Administration System (UIPT-MIS) with a cutting-edge, comprehensive solution aimed at enhancing the city’s tax operations.

This initiative, which was formalized on December 20, 2024, in collaboration with the Local Government & Housing Town Planning (LG&HTP) Department under the World Bank-funded CLICK program, aligns with the Government of Sindh’s mission to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in tax management.

However, LMKR’s vast experience in GIS technology and enterprise solutions positions the company to develop and deploy an advanced Management Information System (MIS) alongside a GIS-based mobile application for streamlined data collection. These innovations will empower LG&HTP to identify properties, assess taxes, and carry out property valuations with greater accuracy and efficiency.

The project’s key feature is the creation of a centralized digital platform that will optimize tax administration processes. This platform will offer citizens easy self-service tools to access their property tax information, view bills, and monitor payment statuses, thus increasing convenience and reducing the administrative burden on the local government. As a result, taxpayers will have enhanced control and clarity over their obligations.

Nasir Tanveer, Vice President of Technology Business & Alliances at LMKR, emphasized the company’s commitment to urban innovation, saying, “Our collaboration with LG&HTP highlights LMKR’s dedication to transforming urban management systems. This project will deliver a transparent, efficient property tax mechanism for Karachi, bolstering trust and improving public service delivery.”

However, Incorporating GIS technology into the tax administration process will bring additional benefits. This solution will improve property assessments, curb tax evasion, and provide a solid foundation for data-driven decision-making. By promoting more accurate property valuations and tax calculations, the system will help increase tax revenue, contributing to the development of Karachi as a more competitive, modern, and livable city.

However, This initiative supports Karachi’s vision for smart urban governance and will drive the city’s economic growth by enhancing its infrastructure and financial capabilities.
