Islamabad, Oct 22: Lucky Cement Completes Wind Power Plant in Karachi
The 28.8 MW captive wind power project at Lucky Cement Limited’s Karachi Plant has been successfully completed and put into service. On October 22, 2024, the project officially began operations after being successfully completed within the allocated budget and timeframe.
With this noteworthy accomplishment, Lucky Cement becomes the first business in Pakistan to carry out a large-scale hybrid renewable energy project that integrates solar and wind electricity. This wind power project has increased Lucky Cement’s overall ability to generate electricity for self-consumption from renewable sources to an astounding 55%.
At its Pezu Plant, Cement already runs the biggest solar captive plant in Pakistan, with a 42.8 MW capacity and a 5.1 MW reflex energy storage system.
