Islamabad, April 3, 2025: Luke Wood has rejoined Peshawar Zalmi for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), marking his second spell with the franchise.

The 29-year-old, recognized for his skills in the death overs and experience in franchise cricket, was picked during the PSL 2025 draft held in Gwadar, Balochistan.

Wood had previously played for Zalmi in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, where he proved to be a reliable performer.

The franchise used their fourth pick in the Platinum round to bring Wood back, preferring his proven ability over lesser-tested options.

His adaptability to subcontinental conditions, highlighted by a respectable economy rate in previous PSL editions, made him a valuable choice.

A Look at Wood’s T20 Career

Wood has played 165 T20 matches, taking as many wickets in 164 innings with a 27.10 average and an 8.45 economy. His best figures, 5/50, have come twice.

With a strike rate of 19.2, Wood has also secured one five-wicket haul, demonstrating his ability to make an impact in crucial moments.

Led by Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi is shaping a well-rounded squad for the upcoming season.

Alongside Wood, the team has secured England’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore, while emerging local talents Saim Ayub and Sufiyan Muqeem add depth to the lineup.

The return of Wood will be put to the test early as former champions are set to face Quetta Gladiators on April 12 at Rawalpindi Stadium.

With experience on his side, he will be looking to play a key role in the team’s campaign as they aim to reclaim the PSL title, last won in 2017.
