Islamabad, Nov 13: Malaysia Eyes Importing Pakistani Food Products to Boost Trade. Coordinator to Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Saif Ur Rehman stated on Wednesday that there is significant interest from Malaysian buyers in sourcing high-quality food products from Pakistan that adhere to international standards.

He is currently on a two-week trip to Malaysia, leading the Pak Food delegation to investigate export opportunities and collaborative ventures with local partners. He noted that the increasing demand for Pakistani food items reflects a mutual appreciation for superior quality food products and emphasized the opportunity to enhance trade relations between the two nations.

Pakistan provides a diverse range of products, including rice, fresh fruits, spices, and processed foods, which resonate well with Malaysian consumer preferences, he remarked. Rehman mentioned that the emphasis on quality, safety, and compliance with international food standards has increased the popularity of Pakistani food products in Malaysia.

Thanks to improvements in production, packaging, and food safety measures, Pakistani manufacturers have successfully met the rigorous quality standards required in international markets. He expressed that this alignment with global standards instills confidence in Malaysian buyers regarding the safety and high quality of Pakistani imports.

Rehman also pointed out that the country’s dedication to maintaining competitive pricing without compromising quality makes it an appealing source for Malaysian food importers. He added that trade fairs, online platforms, and business delegations have played a significant role in fostering connections between Malaysian buyers and Pakistani suppliers, thereby creating a conducive environment for the growth of this trade relationship.
