Islamabad, Sep 30: Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, is expected to travel to Islamabad on October 2 and stay for three days.

Ibrahim will meet with Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit, with the aim of enhancing commercial and investment relations between the two countries.

Given that both nations seek a two-state solution to the conflict, discussion on the Palestine problem is also anticipated. Several agreements are scheduled to be inked during the visit, according to sources.

Following their meeting at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh in April, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Ibrahim to Pakistan. Shehbaz also urged businesspeople in Malaysia to look into Pakistani investment prospects.

The final time a Malaysian prime minister visited Imran Khan was in 2019, when Mahathir Mohamad did so. The two leaders discussed a variety of bilateral, regional, and global matters during the visit.

They decided to turn the relationship between Malaysia and Pakistan into a strategic alliance and increase collaboration in fields like energy, retail food, research and technology, telecoms investment, and agriculture.
