Islamabad, Oct 25; Maria Sharapova Tennis Hall of Fame Induction Celebrates a Legendary Career in Tennis
Maria Sharapova and the American doubles duo Bob and Mike Bryan have been inducted into the 2025 Class of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
In recognition of their outstanding achievements to the sport, Sharapova, a five-time Grand Slam champion, and the Bryans will be formally honored on August 23 in Newport, Rhode Island.
“Incredibly grateful to receive this honor,” Sharapova, wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “A big thank you to The Hall of the Fame, and to all the voters. “Most importantly, this recognition is such a beautiful reminder of the deep appreciation I have for my fans. Each one of you made me reach for the stars and look at what we have achieved together.”
As the fastest-rising tennis player, Sharapova became the first Russian to hold the top spot in the global rankings in 2005. She concluded her illustrious career with 36 trophies, including an Olympic silver medal, and is one of just ten women to earn a career grand slam, meaning she won each major slam at least once.
Her rivalry with Serena Williams gained international media attention and became one of the sport’s most talked-about rivalries. After a doping penalty, Maria Sharapova returned in 2017 and ended her career in 2020.
With 16 Grand Slam victories, the Bryan brothers are generally considered the most successful doubles pair in tennis history. They are renowned in Pakistan for defeating Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi in the US Open final.
Along with winning an incredible 119 trophies, including 16 Grand Slams, 39 ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and four ATP Finals titles, the pair also held the top spot in the world’s men’s doubles rankings for an extraordinary 438 weeks. They also played a key role in the U.S. Davis Cup win in 2007 and won gold at the 2012 Olympics.
