Islamabad, Jan 20: The Punjab School Education Department has broadened the curriculum for matriculation students by introducing three dynamic groups: Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Fashion Designing.
The expansion will begin in the 2025-26 academic year, providing students with new opportunities to customize their education according to their interests and career goals.
Previously limited to the traditional Science and Arts streams, matriculation in Punjab will now provide a more holistic approach by integrating these specialized disciplines.
The Health Sciences group will prepare students for careers in healthcare, addressing the growing need for medical professionals. Agricultural Sciences will equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in agriculture, a vital sector in Punjab’s economy.

However, Fashion Designing will tap into the creative talents of students, fostering innovation in Punjab’s burgeoning fashion industry.
As students step into the 9th grade, they will have the freedom to select their preferred group based on their interests and future career goals. This choice is a significant step toward personalized education, empowering students by giving them control over their academic journeys.
The School Education Department has meticulously prepared the curriculum for these new groups, ensuring it meets educational standards and industry needs.
However, Subject lists for each group have been carefully crafted and shared with educational authorities.
The implementation plan involves a comprehensive collection of data on student preferences from Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) across the district.
This initiative, spearheaded under the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, aims not only to enhance the quality of education but also to align it more closely with global trends and market demands. By doing so, it aspires to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the modern world, thus fostering a generation of well-prepared individuals ready to contribute effectively to their communities and the broader economy.
