Islamabad, Aug 27: The Met Office forecasted significant rainfall in Karachi on Tuesday due to an ongoing weather system.
The current temperature in the city is 27 degrees Celsius, with 90% humidity in the air. Based on the weather forecast, the maximum temperature could reach 34 degrees Celsius. 18 km/h gusts from the northwest are blowing through the city.
Tuesday saw early morning rainfall in Karachi.
Rain fell on Saddar, Shahra-e-Faisal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Landhi, Korangi, M.A. Jinnah Road, Guru Mandir, Soldier Bazar, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Site area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jail Chowrangi, Safoora Chowrangi, and other areas.
The MET office predicts that Karachi will likely have rain throughout the day, with occasional pauses.
Prior to this, on Monday night, the Pakistan Meteorological Department made available comprehensive rainfall data for several parts of Karachi.
The Met Office’s records show that Quaidabad had the most rainfall of any place yesterday, with 52 millimeters falling there. With 42 mm of rain, Gulshan-e-Hadeed was the next highest.
The amount of precipitation in the other places varied as well: North Karachi received 29.8 mm, Nazimabad 26 mm, Surjani Town 25.4 mm, Keamari and Shahra-e-Faisal 16 mm, University Road 15.6 mm, Korangi 14.6 mm, and Saddar received 13 mm.
12.6 mm were received by the Old Airport, 12.4 mm by Gulshan-e-Maymar, 11.2 mm by Jinnah Terminal, 11 mm by Bin Qasim and DHA, 7 mm by Orangi Town, and 4 mm by Mauripur. In light of the province’s forecast for high rainfall, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has issued an alert to all local authorities, district administrations, and the irrigation department advising them to be ready to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.
