Islamabad, Oct 18: Details of the story indicate that the technology giant that owns Facebook, Meta, has just embarked on a string of targeted firing exercise that has impacted on some of its well-known units. Cuts are being said to affect works at WhatsApp, Instagram, and Reality Labs.
Unlike previous masses layoffs, this current round of layoffs looks more strategic. According to insiders, the sackings are not part of a broad cost cutting exercise in the firm but are affiliated to restructuring within certain departments.
Share of such losses are still likely to emerge from social networks as more people lose their jobs due to downsizing. One must mention Jane Manchun Wong, a former contributor to the Threads staff. Wong, who began work at Meta in 2023, was known for her capability of identifying new app features in advance of their official release.
today, only some teams at Meta have strategies for changing resources to match their long-term objectives and location strategy.
This entails, we move some teams to another location, and we move some employees to other positions. As you can imagine when such a situation occurs, we do everything we can to ensure employees in such roles are given other place to work.
Recent dismissals in Meta occurred when the company has been implementing previous attempts of layoffs in the company. In the first half of this year, the company’s Reality Labs had let go of a small number of its employees, which marked the start of a less massive round of layoffs.
The company’s first massive layoff took place in 2022, with a separation from 11,000 workers. This decision came in response to what the company now concedes was a rosier outlook of its growth trajectory post the COVID-19 outbreak.
