Islamabad, Oct 23: Mini Mazda Truckers Strike Over Vehicle Seizures and High Toll Taxes
The Excise Department’s increased toll fees and vehicle seizures have prompted a statewide walkout by Mini Mazda Truckers transport. At Babu Sabu Chowk in Lahore, protesters have set up camp and promised to stay there till their demands are met.
The protest has also resulted in the road near Rohi Nala in Gajjumata being blocked, which has seriously disrupted traffic. Because the supply chain may be impacted, the strike has sparked worries about possible shortages of necessities.
Vehicles bought at auction are regularly seized by the Excise Department, according to protesters. Their businesses have been badly harmed by this, and they want a quick fix.
The protesters said the sit-in was started after unsuccessful talks with the transport minister and they will not stop until their requests are granted. Haji Sher Ali, president of the Mini Mazda Association, stated that they are determined to continue their protests, even if it means staying for a month.
