Islamabad, Sep 5: Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Mahar, the provincial minister for agriculture in Sindh, stated on Thursday that the province’s cotton crop had lost Rs. 4 billion as a result of the recent rains.

Speaking with the media, the minister stated that just as farmers lost their lives in 2022 as a result of the rains, we are planning to do the same this time around. In order to guarantee that farmers would have access to fertilizer, he claimed to have spoken with representatives from fertilizer companies. He emphasized the various problems farmers were having with fertilizers.

He continued, “We have a plan to control fertilizer smuggling and to eradicate black marketing and fertilizer hoarding.” The district government, the agriculture department, and fertilizer businesses needed to coordinate in this regard.

The provincial minister announced that the Agriculture Department inspectors now had more authority. In addition to taking action against producers of counterfeit pesticides, we also need to take action against dealers who produce phony fertilizers and cause price variations in fertilizer.
