Islamabad, Sep 21: Punjab’s free Wi-Fi program has grown significantly; it is currently offered at more than 230 locations in several cities. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s goal of a more interconnected province is in line with this development.

This growth has been led by the Safe City project, which has installed free Wi-Fi connection points in multiple cities. Lahore is in first place with 200 locations, followed by Sheikhupura (15), Kasur (10), and Nankana Sahib (5).

The initiative’s spokesman provided remarkable utilization figures for the previous quarter. A total of 111 terabytes of data were used by 7.7 million users, and the service maintained a strong 98.7% availability rate.

According to reports, the free internet access is benefiting a number of industries, including social interaction, business, and education. This is seen by officials as a critical step in making Punjab a digital province.

“With this free Wi-Fi service, citizens are finding their daily lives simplified,” the spokesperson stated, highlighting the initiative’s useful advantages for locals in the area. An important turning point in Punjab’s digital infrastructure development has been reached with the expansion of free Wi-Fi coverage, which might serve as a template for similar initiatives in other regions of Pakistan.
