Islamabad, Aug 18: Kohat division commissioner Moatasim Billah announced the suspension of over 35 education department officials, two female doctors from Lachi Tehsil Hospital, and a supervisor from Water and Sanitation Services Company for failing to report for work.

He and Kohat deputy commissioner Abdul Kalam also conducted unexpected visits to hospitals, boys’ and girls’ schools, and examined the employees’ attendance records and office cleanliness. Additionally, the commissioner ordered a departmental investigation into the delinquent officials of the health and education departments and forwarded the list of officials to the accounts department so that deductions would be made from their salaries. Lastly, Mr. Billah suspended the principal and vice-principal of government higher secondary school.

Due to their absence from work, he suspended a technician from Gumbat, a rural health center, and two female doctors from Lachi Tehsil Hospital. Additionally, he suspended the supervisor of the WSSC for missing work.

A six-day cleanliness campaign in public parks, bazaars, bus stops, and government offices was also mandated by the commissioner. Along with roadside drains, he also ordered the cleansing of streams that cross populous areas.

Both the injured and the dead were taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital. The truck driver was the subject of a formal complaint filed by the Riaz Mohammad Shaheed police station, which also seized the vehicle.

SUSPENDED: During a surprise visit to the Service Delivery Center the other day, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kalam suspended four officials who were on French leave. He launched a departmental investigation against the careless officials, voicing his ire over the subpar service provided in comparison to the deadlines provided to the public.

The deputy commissioner gave the staff immediate instructions to handle people’s issues. He made it plain that staff members who were absent or careless would face severe disciplinary action.
