Islamabad, Sep 21: The motorway police have announced the closure of key sections of the M2 and M1 motorways in response to a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Lahore, leading to significant traffic disruptions for travelers.

According to officials, traffic on the M2 motorway from Chakri has been halted, and vehicles from Neela Dullah are being redirected to alternative routes to alleviate congestion near the rally site. The M1 motorway, which connects major cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has also experienced partial closures at several locations.

These measures have disrupted travel between Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with many commuters reporting delays.

Travelers heading to Lahore from northern regions have noted extended travel times, particularly due to traffic jams around Chakri and Neela Dullah caused by the diversions.

The motorway police have emphasized that these closures are essential for maintaining security and order ahead of the rally. Commuters are encouraged to check traffic updates and plan their routes accordingly to minimize inconvenience.

As a result of the closures, long lines of vehicles have formed, and authorities are actively working to manage traffic flow and reduce disruptions for those on the road.
