Islamabad, Sep 18: The Motorway Police (MP) in Ghotki have taken an unusual tack in trying to reduce accidents on the Sukkur-Multan portion of the motorway (M5). They are requesting that drivers wash their faces at night in order to keep them from falling asleep at the wheel.
According to the MP, a number of accidents happen as a result of drivers nodding off, especially when traveling at night. The police hope to lessen these incidents and make driving safer for all drivers by promoting face washing among motorists.
With so many private and commercial vehicles using Pakistan’s highways every day, they are essential for linking the country’s cities. Accidents are still a big worry, though. On the Lahore-Multan Motorway (M3), according to recent data from the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP), Driver fatigue is the cause of 43.42% of accidents.
Moreover, inattentive driving is responsible for 27.63% of collisions, whilst wheel or tire problems account for 14.47% of them. Authorities advise taking pauses every two to three hours, drinking lots of water, and utilizing anti-drowzing gadgets to help prevent accidents caused by weariness. Additionally, it is recommended that passengers remain vigilant and alert drivers to any signs of tiredness.
