Islamabad, 22 April 2025: Blessing Muzarabani was in outstanding form once again, adding three crucial wickets to his first-innings tally on day three of the first Test against Bangladesh.
The Zimbabwe fast bowler finished the day with figures of 3-51, helping to put his team in a strong position.
Muzarabani’s breakthrough moments came early in the day as he dismissed both Bangladesh openers—Shadman Islam for just 4 runs and Mahmudul Hasan Joy for 33.
He then claimed the key wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, who was also dismissed for a mere 4 runs, leaving Bangladesh at 194-4 by the close of play.

Muzarabani’s effort was backed up by fellow pacer Victor Nyauchi, who was the only other Zimbabwe bowler to claim a wicket in Bangladesh’s second innings.
The pair’s performances were crucial in keeping Zimbabwe on track as they sought to build pressure on the hosts.
While Bangladesh has long been dominant on their slow, spin-friendly pitches, they have been missing several senior players for this series, which has affected their balance.

Despite this, they have a solid record against Zimbabwe, having won eight out of 18 Test matches between the two sides.
This includes four victories from the last five encounters, showcasing their strong home advantage.
As the match progresses, Bangladesh will look to recover and post a challenging total, but Zimbabwe’s bowlers are doing well to hold them in check.
The second and final Test of the series will take place in Chattogram, starting April 28, where both teams will aim for a decisive finish.
