Islamabad, Nov 17: NA Speaker Urges Stronger Pak-Spain Ties via Parliamentary Friendship Groups. Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq Sunday urged the efficient use of Parliamentary Friendship Groups (PFGs) to improve inter-parliamentary connections and stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering deeper relationships between Pakistan and Spain.

He made these remarks when he met with a high-level Spanish parliamentary delegation that included Spanish Senators Luis de la Peña, Antononio Gutierrez Limones, Ms. Natalia Ucero, and Vicente Azpitarte Perez, as well as Spanish Ambassador to Pakistan Jose Antoniode Herrera Ory. “Improving Parliament-to-Parliament contacts is essential for fortifying ties between both countries,” he stated.

Enhancing bilateral commerce, investment, and cooperation in sectors like agriculture, technology, education, and IT was the main topic of discussion. According to the speaker, Spain and Pakistan have friendly relations based on their shared opinions on a range of regional and global concerns. Spain and Pakistan have a long and solid relationship.

The speaker of the NA expressed sorrow at the loss of valuable property and lives caused by Spain’s tragic floods. “Pakistan and Spain are the two countries that contribute the least to climate change, but they bear the brunt of its effects,” he said.

Additionally, he thanked the Spanish people and administration for helping Pakistan during the 2022 floods. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further emphasized Pakistan’s geostrategic significance as a partner for European countries and its unrealized economic potential. In order to support regional stability and economic expansion, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to developing closer ties.

Noting that more than 40,000 innocent men, women, and children have been martyred, he denounced the grave human rights abuses committed against Palestinians. In addition, he commended Spain’s steadfast support of the Palestinian people’s rights and demanded immediate international action to confront these injustices.

He called for international assistance to lessen the suffering of Kashmiris and underlined the pressing need to settle the conflict in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

Syed Ali Musa Gilani, MNA/Convener of the Pak-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), and Zahoor Ahmed, Pakistan’s ambassador to Spain, were also in attendance on this particular occasion.
