Islamabad, 30 April 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders kept their IPL playoff dreams alive with a tense 14-run win over Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, thanks to a game-changing spell by veteran spinner Sunil Narine.
The match, held at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, saw KKR post a competitive 204 for nine after being asked to bat first.
The visitors got off to a flying start, with their top-order laying a solid foundation despite recent struggles that had seen them lose three of their last five games.
Delhi Capitals, in reply, appeared in control during the middle overs.

Although they lost three early wickets with just 62 runs on the board in the seventh over, Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel steadied the chase.
The pair added 76 runs for the fourth wicket, keeping hopes alive for the home side.
However, the momentum shifted swiftly when Sunil Narine was brought back into the attack.
The 36-year-old off-spinner delivered a match-turning spell, claiming three wickets in the space of seven deliveries.

His victims included both set batters, as well as a key lower-order player, ending Delhi’s resistance.
Narine finished with figures of 3 for 29, as Delhi’s innings eventually closed at 190 for nine in their allotted 20 overs. The result marked Delhi’s third home defeat in four games this season.
Despite the win, KKR remained in seventh place on the points table, now with nine points. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, continued to hold onto a spot in the top four with 12 points.
The result has breathed new life into Kolkata’s campaign, while Delhi will need to reassess their approach at home as the tournament enters a crucial phase.
