Islamabad, Oct 29: Nationwide Polio Vaccination Campaign Kicks Off. To safeguard more than 45 million children, the Pakistan Polio Program began a statewide polio immunization campaign.

The Program has started this vaccination campaign to combat the recurrence of wild polio-virus and protect millions of children from the crippling effects of polio, thereby solidifying Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating the disease.

Over 45 million children nationwide will be reached by this campaign. Health officials urged all parents and caregivers across the country to actively participate in the polio eradication campaign and make sure all children receive the polio vaccine, demonstrating their steadfast dedication to the cause.

The goal of the program is to vaccinate over 45 million children under the age of five by November 3. In order to improve immunity, vitamin A pills are often offered, of response to the concerning rise of polio cases 41 cases have been documented in 2024 thus far, spanning 71 districts Pakistan has launched its third statewide campaign this year.

“Under the Prime Minister’s guidance, we are re-energized in our efforts to combat polio,” said Ayesha Raza Farooq, Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, reinforcing the government’s steadfast commitment.”Our polio workers will begin traveling throughout Pakistan today, distributing the vaccine and ensuring our children have a healthier future.”

“With the virus now present in 71 districts, the risk to every child is real,” she warned, urging parents to give immunizations top priority. This vaccination is being delivered right to your home by the Pakistani government.

“Please make sure your children are vaccinated and welcome our hardworking health workers,” she urged.The National Emergency Operations Centre for Polio Eradication Coordinator, Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq, urged parents to act in tandem with polio professionals. “Polio cannot be cured, but it can be avoided with this easily accessible vaccine,” he said. Since the danger is greater than ever, we must work together as a country to vaccinate our children.
