On Saturday, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the Nawaz Sharif Information Technology (IT) City project in Lahore, with the goal of equipping young people with the latest skills.
During the inauguration ceremony, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the IT City project was initiated by Nawaz Sharif and proudly noted that the first phase was completed in just two and a half months.
She also announced that the 853-acre IT City will benefit from a 10-year tax-free status. The project will feature additional developments such as a Knowledge City and a Film City.
Maryam Nawaz explained that several universities will open campuses in the Knowledge City, with the government providing necessary facilities to support investors. She mentioned that many major IT companies are very interested in the Nawaz Sharif IT City.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized her commitment to financially empowering Pakistan’s youth. She believes that equipping young people with the right skills will enable them to significantly contribute to the country’s economy and technological growth.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz compared IT developments in India to the potential for similar progress in Pakistan. She questioned why Pakistan can’t achieve the same level of success and expressed confidence that, with the right efforts, Pakistan can also experience an IT revolution. She encouraged everyone to work towards this goal, underscoring the importance of education, technology, and innovation for the country’s future.
