Islamabad, Jan 6: However, Pakistan has over-capacity of power generation capacity, but during the year 2023-24, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued generation licence to eight companies.
Six solar companies and two hydropower companies obtained licences for the 255.558MW generation capacity from the 13 applications made.
Among the solar companies, YDSA Solar Company got licensed on 27th September 2023 with total generation capacity of 5.0058 MW. On the hydropower side of the house, Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) was allotted two licences.
The first one was granted on November the thirtieth of two thousand and twenty-three for the eight-eight Mega Watt project, while the second, granted on May the twenty-second of the year two thousand and twenty-four was for the Medan hydropower project with the capacity of one hundred and fifty-seven Mega Watt.
