ISLAMABAD, JULY21: A committee comprising the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other relevant parties was formed on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s orders to determine if the Lyari Expressway could handle heavy traffic and to evaluate its capacity. According to sources, the NHA is adamantly opposed to permitting heavy traffic on the road.
It was also observed that the Lyari Expressway consultant engineering associate was not a member of the joint committee. It is anticipated that a final report on the subject will be submitted soon.
The chief minister set a deadline of July 31 for the completion and opening of phase 2 of the Bund Road Project, which the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recently gave its engineers to accomplish. LDA representatives stressed the importance of accelerating construction by bringing in more labor and equipment during a site visit.
With service roads on both sides of the elevated route from Niaz Chowk to Gulshan-e-Ravi Morr, the project seeks to address mobility difficulties. Although there were delays and higher expenses associated with this program, which started in late 2022, the goal is to lessen pollution and enhance traffic conditions.
