Islamabad, Dec 26: NLC and DP World have successfully shipped over 1,000 containers between Pakistan and Bangladesh since the launch of their direct shipping route in October. This landmark initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening trade and regional connectivity in South Asia.

The first direct shipping service between Karachi and Jable Ali will commence on January 13 with the deployment of the first NLC vessel, which has a capacity of 1,100 TEUs. A second vessel of similar capacity is scheduled to be introduced by the end of January. In addition to these efforts, an edible oil vessel is expected to begin operations in February 2025, further expanding the scope of this collaboration.

This partnership between NLC and DP World is poised to bring transformative changes to regional trade. It goes beyond just logistics, serving as a key component of a broader strategy aimed at fostering economic growth, enhancing prosperity, and accelerating regional progress. The development of this direct shipping route is expected to facilitate smoother trade flows between Pakistan and Bangladesh, providing a crucial boost to both countries’ economies and deepening their economic ties.
