Former-Olympian and an international weightlifter from Pakistan Nooh Dastgir Butt has started well in his powerlifting journey by clinching a gold medal in the Ascot event of the currently taking place Commonwealth Powerlifting Classic and Equipped Championships.
”Won gold medal at Commonwealth Classic Powerlifting Championships 2024. Stop me if you can. This butt is not going to stop,” he wrote in a now-deleted post from his Instagram account.
Pride of Performance Award holder and a Commonwealth Games gold medalist Nooh Dastgir’s record: 370 kg lift in the first powerlifting competition that made him Pakistan’s first-ever powerlifting gold medalist, says the press release.
This is a breakthrough for Nooh who has successfully certified himself to clinch gold in what can be considered his maiden international powerlifting event. He is now training for Bench Press and Deadlift in which he should be getting two more gold medals and in the overall championship of the 120kg+ catagory in the world championship.
Weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt who entered the powerlifting championship for the first time is another who also won the gold medal.
His first musical was incredible and the crowds as well as the sports scientist were in for a big shock as he went in to come out as the winner and more was that his mind was strong enough to prevent him from being discouraged by his opponents.
The training and preparation undertaken by Butt over these months were manifested as he lifted above his anticipated capacity establishing a new paradigm in Pakistan for powerlifting.
