Islamabad, Nov 2: NUST Researchers Ranked Among World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2024
43 researchers from the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) were named among the top 2% of scientists globally for 2024, which is a significant accomplishment for Pakistan’s academic scene.
Researchers making important contributions in domains like cybersecurity, engineering, and artificial intelligence are honored in this yearly listing by Stanford University and Elsevier.
As the number of scientists on the list has continuously increased from nine in 2021 to 23 in 2022, 31 in 2023, and now 43, this milestone demonstrates NUST’s growing significance in international research.
According to the QS University Rankings, NUST is currently ranked 64th in Asia and 353rd globally, firmly establishing itself as one of Pakistan’s top research universities.
In order to determine scientific importance, the Stanford and Elsevier ranking evaluates scholars using a composite index that includes authorship positions, the Hirsch index, and citation counts, among other criteria.
Dr. Muhammad Shahid, Dr. Noreen Sher Akbar, Dr. Meraj Mustafa Hashmi, and Dr. Rizwan Ul Haq are among the distinguished researchers at NUST who have made noteworthy contributions in a variety of fields, including physics, materials science, biomedical research, nanotechnology, and cybersecurity.
