Islamabad, Dec 31: Nvidia is set to launch Jetson Thor, its next-generation compact computer for humanoid robots, in the first half of 2025. The company aims to support the global robotics industry rather than compete directly with manufacturers like Tesla, focusing on empowering “hundreds of thousands” of robot makers worldwide, according to Deepu Talla, Nvidia’s vice president of robotics.

Key Technological Advancements:

  • Generative AI Models: These models enable humanoid robots to perform smarter and more complex tasks.
  • Simulated Training Environments: Robots can now be trained in virtual settings, accelerating their development and deployment.

Strategic Shift:

Amid competition from major customers like Amazon and Google, who are developing their AI chips, Nvidia is diversifying its focus. By advancing robotics technology, the company secures its market position and leverages its expertise to lead the burgeoning robotics sector.

The Jetson Thor launch positions Nvidia as a pivotal player in shaping the future of robotics, aligning with its broader strategy to dominate AI-driven industries while addressing shifting market demands.
